A hyperbaric technician is certified to administer oxygen treatments to persons needing high-oxygen or hyperbaric treatment in a hyperbaric chamber. The technician works with medical staff under the supervision of a physician to administer hyperbaric oxygen therapy (HBOT). In addition, a hyperbaric technician must also be familiar with all general clinic skills, including obtaining medical histories, assisting in patient care procedures like reading vital signs, operating basic medical equipment like gurneys and wheelchairs. The HBO tech will also work alongside the nursing staff in the wound center helping to room patients, obtain vitals, perform measurements/photography, and also assist with cleaning treatment rooms for the next patient. Other responsibilities are answering phones, providing education to patients regarding treatments, preparing documentation for authorization by insurance company, reviewing patient charts to ensure that all necessary documentation is needed for the patient to start HBO treatments.

This applicant for this position should have High school diploma or general education degree (GED) and Wound Care Center chamber operators must be a healthcare professional actively certified or licensed in one of the following vocations to meet the minimum education and experience requirements. Licensed Practical Nurse, Certified Medical Office Assistant, C.N.A, EMT or Paramedic. Applicant must be HBO certified within one year of employment.
