The Respiratory Therapy Assistant (RTA) will only perform duties under the direct supervision of a Respiratory Therapist (RT). The RTA assures the delivery of quality respiratory therapy services on both inpatients and outpatients. In addition, the RTA provides basic routine patient care activities in the general care areas related to respiratory care including assessment, planning, implementation and evaluation within the guidelines of the hospital and department. The RTA participates in educational and orientation programs for the hospital and ensures care provided is safe, effective, developmentally and age appropriate while complying with all quality and regulatory requirements as well as quality improvement initiatives. The RTA cooperates with and follows the direction of the Director of Respiratory.
The required education is a high school diploma and current enrollment in an accredited Respiratory Therapy Program. The required experience is 1 year working in a healthcare related field. This position requires BLS certification through AHA required.
