The registered professional nurse/patient educator is responsible for providing care, treatment, and education through the nursing process of assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation. The registered professional nurse/patient educator considers the staffing guidelines set forth by AWHONN, ages, disabilities, and stages of development in the performance of her/his responsibilities. Nursing care is provided in collaboration with the Medical Staff and in accordance with objectives and policies of Graham Hospital. The registered professional nurse/patient educator functions independently and collaboratively with the other health team members. The registered professional nurse/patient educator reports directly to the Director of Obstetrics. 

The applicant in this position must be a graduate of an Accredited School of Professional Nursing, possess a current Illinois RN License, BLS, and have CPR Certification, lactation consultant certification, and must complete Neonatal Resuscitation course.  One year of obstetrical experience is preferred.  Must complete Fetal Monitor Level 1 and 2 and Childbirth Educator Course within the first 12 months of hire.  Must complete Child Passenger Safety Technician Certification within 6 months of hire.
